Gibbous phase
Keywords for the Gibbous phase are: analyze, prepare, trust. It is the time in a cycle to process the results of the actions taken during the First Quarter. During this phase you are gathering information. Give up making judgments, it will only lead to worry. Your knowledge is incomplete. Laugh. Analyze and filter. LOOK WITHIN.
Gibbous Moon is the "brimming cup" phase. It rises close to sunset, its face radiant, nearing culmination. This marks a time of rising hopes, increasing confidence. Enthusiasm, excitement, creative imagination are heightened, as the anticipation of reward rouses determination to succeed. Focus turns toward finding meaning and purpose in life, seeking constructive answers to problems, throwing light on questions posed about ourselves and our world.
This is Thor's Day (Thursday) - the Day of Vision, Spiritual Insight and Expansion. Originally Thursday cames from the Latin
Dies Iovis, which meant "Jove's Day". Jove or Jupiter as this god was sometimes called, was the supreme god and patron of ancient Romans. Jove/Jupiter is associated with wealth, leadership, thunder and lightning. A lord of heaven, Jove/Jupiter was also a god of light, and his sacred color is white. In the Greek mythologies, this deity was known as Zeus.
Later this day was eventually turned into the Old English
Thursdaeg or
Thunresdaeg, which translates to 'thunder day' or, more simply, "Thor's Day". This day of the week is named after Thor, the popular Norse god of thunder. Thor was the son of Odin. He carried a war hammer called Mjollnir, and it was this that made the thunder and lightning. All of these Thunder gods - Jupiter/Jove, Zeus and Thor - were wielder of the thunderbolt.
Thursday has the panetary association of Jupiter, and the day of the week is associated with prosperity, abundance, leadership, and good health. Prosperity and abundance are the typical magickal concerns on a Thursday. However, the way people define prosperity can vary greatly between individuals.
[excerpts from Ellen Dugan's "Book of Witchery"]
From Christopher Penczak's "The Witch's Coin":
"Energetically, abundance is very different from prosperity. Abundance simply means a lot of something. Spells, magick, and affirmations that ask for abundance, and don't specify what kind, often get mixed results, because you simply get a lot of something. You can have an abundance of misfortune, ill health,, or of stress. Abundance doesn't mean money. Abundant money doesn't bring happiness, health, or a sense of purpose, though it makes some things easier. When you don't have money, it's easy to think it's thye solution to all your problems, but without a greater framework for its use, money can bring as many problems as it solves.
Prosperity is more than abundance, and less. Prosperity is different from money. To be prosperous means you are healthily growing. To prosper means you are thriving. You are flourishing. This means your entire life, not just your bank account. The image of prosperity we have as pagan goes back to the flourishing land, filled with green and gold grains, providing crops, feeding the herd and the people. Things are growing. The world is turning. All are blessed by the goddess as the tides of life come in and provide sustenance.
When you are simply abundant, even with money, you can become stagnant. There is no flow. There is no growth. There are no tides to life. The many people who say they want millions of dollars don't really know what they would do with it after the obvious, such as pay off debt, buy a house, buy nice things, travel, and take care of some friends and family. They have no vision to sustain their abundance nor a high purpose for having it. They don't know how to flow with the cycles of creation, and that is why they say they want millions, but they are usually struggling financially and personally with a lack of direction, success, and fulfillment.
Those who are truly successful, abundant millionaires often they have some passion, drive, or desire, a purpose, that helped them become millionaires. Although most are not considered magicians by the occult community and would not consider themselves magicians or witches, they use many of the same principles. ....
The secret of true prosperity is finding our security through our connection with the divine, with the spiritual world. To the witch, the physical world - the Earth, the Land and plants - is the manifestation of the spiritual world in the physical dimension. Witches believe that the land and all living things, of all nature, is divine and sacred. The intangible light of the Sun and stars becomes the green of the land, a tangible form of energy. All our prosperity is based on this principle - even our modern stock market with green cash and gold reserves. Like cycle of day and night and the tides of the seasons, prosperity is a flow of powers. The divine controls the flow of all things, including water, weather, and even wealth. There are harvests and famines, but those who are wise enough to listen, to feel, and to trust will know what to do to take advantage of the boons and ride out the lean times. Wealth is divine, just like the tides and the harvest, and the cycle of birth and death. To the witch, everything is divine. When we start treating wealth as something divine, something originating with the gods and goddesses, when we learn to flow with it and trust in the relationship we have with the divine, then we are open to this magickal secret.
