As above, so below. Look into the sky and observe which phase the Moon is in. Then you will know where you are in the growth cycle of each lunar month. The phase that the moon was in when you were born reflects your purpose, personality and preferences.

New Moon - The new moon is like a SEED planted in the earth. We cannot see her but she is ready to grow, full of potential and energy for her new journey. Those who are born during the new moon are impulsive, passionate and intuitive. They are risk takers and pioneers.  The new moon (or dark moon)
rises at sunrise and sets at sunset. Astrologically, the Sun and the Moon are in conjunction. Because the Sun's light overpowers the nearby Moon in the day, and the Moon is on the other side of the Earth with the Sun at night, she is not visible in the sky at all.  The New Moon is the beginning of a new cycle. Keywords for the New Phase are: beginning, birth, emergence, projection and clarity. It is the time in a lunar cycle that you are stimulated to take a new action(s). During this phase the new cycle is being seeded by your visions, inner and outer. Engage in physical activity. Spend time alone. VISUALIZE
your goals for the 29.6-day cycle ahead.

Lunar Cycle of Gort/Ivy - "I die where I cling," is the message of the Scorpionic ivy. She represents fidelity, friendship, and attachment. Gort is a darkening moon, approaching the high holy day of Samhain, when the death of the year is honored. Winter preparations are in progress; the goddess turns within. The harvest comes to a close during the Celtic month of ivy. Ivy corresponds to the Ogham letter Gort, bringing the promise of the inner self and the spiral of life. Ivy's growth reflects the spiraling patterns of DNA, the gifts our ancestors gave us. English ivy is evergreen, reminding you that as the world seems to rest, life still remains. Think of your positive attributes, family traits that have served you well. Can you imagine how far the genes you carry have traveled through the ages to form the person you are? Gaze up at the night sky during the month of Ivy - it's the same sky that your most ancient ancestors, meditating on their gifts. Listen to any messages they have for you. Repeat the following:
"I call upon the power of ivy,
The love of my ancestors bind to me,
For part of the past lives on within me,
Spiraling within and around me."

New Moon Rite:

Take a pure white candle, stroke it from base to center, and tip to center with oil such as olive or almond. Be careful to avoid the wick or the candle will splatter when lit. As you dress it in this way, concentrate on a fresh new project(s) that you wish to work on, then light the candle. Take a seed for
each new goal, hold them one by one in cupped hands till you have thoroughly visualized each intention, then plant the seeds individually in a bowl of earth.   Burn your new moon candle every night at the same time till the moon is full.
