Tiu's Day - Mars Day, the day of Activity and Physicality, Passion and Desire. There are minor magickal energies for reversals and to banish enemies.

Hematite

Polished Hematite is a beautiful dark silvery grey with a high shine, used in ancient times of a mirror.
Unpolished the stone is the color of dried blood; hence its name which comes from the Greek for blood and the fact that it is also called Bloodstone. When worked Hematite leaves stains which closely resemble blood. It is also known as volcano spit and is sometimes termed Black Diamond. Hematite used to be considered a stone of mourning.

Traditionally, Hematite was used to stem bleeding by pressing it over a wound, and for the relief of headaches, sore eyes, and kidney complaints; in all cases being rubbed over the affected parts. Interestingly, recently it is being magnetized and incorporated into jewelery which is worn for the relief of rheumatic and arthritic pain.
Magickally, Hematite is used for protection, healing, grounding, meditation and divination. Small chips in the doors and windows of the home deter unwanted energies. A piece of Hematite under the pillow will help to ward off illness which is especially useful if someone in the house has a contagious illness. To rid yourself of unwanted emotions, take a piece of the stone in each hand and pour your feelings into them. Then bury the stones to the North-West of your home, sprinkling a little salt over them first. To meditate with Hematite, position a piece close to a candle so that you can focus on the flame reflected on the surface. Write a question on a piece of paper and wrap it around the stone for 24 hours before using the same stone in meditation as above.
