John Lennon's birthday -
On October 9th, 1940, John Winston Lennon was born to the sound of Hitler's bombs raining down on the city of Liverpool, England. John's mother, Julia, gave John the middle name Winston in tribute to Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
Sadly, on December 8th, 1980, at 10:50 p.m., in New York City, John Lennon was shot five times by 25 year-old assassin Mark David Chapman.
He would have been 71 today.
