November 2nd, 2009

Ah, the moon was so beautiful when I viewed it outside early this morning. The skies were very clear, and there She was in all her silvery glory in the western sky...  I had to pause and make my
homage to Her at that moment.

Full Moon in Taurus (Scorpio Sun)  A sensuous grounded full moon ritual should be outside, if possible, and close to the earth as it is a time of great sensitivity.  Bring flowers to the circle.

This is Moon Day (Monday) - the Day of Remembering and Feeling.... and in the Seasons of the Witch datebook this moon is noted as being The Moon of Spirits Passed.  How appropriate... a time for remembering and feeling the presence of those who have passed over.

The keywords for the Full Moon phase are: fulfillment, illumination, realization, experience. It is a time in a lunar cycle that you are given a clear view so that you can make adjustments to put you back on track to manifesting the goals you set at the New Moon phase.  Go to a public place. Do something with a friend. LISTEN. Receive awareness. Understand others.

The Season of Samhain

As the last of the Autumn leaves were falling and the harvest was gathered in, the people would prepare for the storms of Winter.

At this time the land starts to become bare of the colors of life. I your garden you need to clearing away dead leaves, and cutting back plants for Winter. Portect or bring in delicate plants before the rea chill sets in, and remove any remaining fruit before the first storms. Houseplants should not be too close to the windows as at this time of the year they can easily chill. Consider feeding birds and wildlife, so long as you are sure you will continue to do so throughout the coming winter.

Wrap up warmly and take yourself out into the woods to notice changes around you. Take some dried fruit and a little cider or wine as an offering. Seek out the oldest tree you can find (almost certainly the one with the widest trunk) and make your offering to the land. Then sit beneath it with your back to the trunk for a while. Close your eyes and visualize all the seasonal changes of Spring, Summer and Autumn which have led to this point. Then recall all the things in your life which have likewise started, grown and come to fruition this year. In your mind see the Goddess as Wise ONe and the God as Hunter walking throught woods, and thank them for all that has come to you. When you are ready, open your eyes and seek out a token of the season to take home with you.
[From: "The Real Witches' Year' by Kate West]

"Heed the North Wind's mighty gale
Lock the door and trim the sail.
When the wind comes from the South,
Love will kiss thee on the mouth.
When the wind blows from the East
Expect the new and set the feast.
When the West wind blows o'er thee
Departed spirits restless be."
