Working Outside:
The Craft is often referred to as a nature-based belief system, and for most Witches it is important to perform at least some Rituals and magick outside amidst Nature.
However, very few Witches are lucky enough to have a garden in which they can work without the risk of being overlooked or overherd. For this reason we look to the wild places around: woods and wooded parkland for preference. For these places are more secluded, and Witchcraft is not a spectator sport!
Try using an ordnance survey map to try to find your special place. Look for footpaths which do not lead to places of interest, and investigate several locations. Once you have located a potential site, or sites, you should visit in several seasons to check suitability. It can take up to a year to find a suitable location, as one which is private in Winter may be overrun by tourists in the Summer, or one which is fine in the Summer can be inaccessible when the ground is wet or snow covered. When you have selected one, make a point of visiting it and tending it. Take some offerings and spend a little time in meditation before your first working. The first real working should be a consecreation and blessing of the space. Invoke the Elements, invite the Goddess and the God and seek the blessing of each. Then place a protective Circle around the area you intend to use. Whatever your workings, always ensure
that you do not leave any traces, such as candle wax, behind you.
