There are some Major magickal energies for rites and spells for travel and intuition... and there are minor magickal energies for rites regarding domestic power.

   Lakes, Ponds, Streams and Rivers

Water is one of the five Elements, which are so important to the Craft. Wells, ponds, lakes, springs, streams and rivers were extremely important to o9ur forebears, being seen as gateways to the other-world; places of energy and power; sources of help and assistance and homes of the Goddess.

As in the story of Excalibur, they would be places where mortals met with those of the other realms. There are several water motifs through the mythology of the Craft. It was thought that a Witch could never cross  running water, although it's never stopped any Witch that I knew!  Also, an 'evil spirit' could not follow over running water, and there are good reasons why anything that tracks using scent or prints will lose its prey if they pass through a stream. In the Craft we often use running water to cleanse objects prior to use, and we know that 'natural waters' are definitely more magickal than the stuff we get through our taps.

On the domestic side, if you have a pond this is the time to generally make all clean and tidy for the new season of growth. If you haven't done so already, it could be time to think about having the Element of Water in your home or garden. Even if you live in the tiniest apartment you can still have a 'water' garden. Fill an opaque vessel with clean stones and rainwater. Add cuttings of easy-to-grow plants, and a few shells or gemstones.
"Listen to the sounds of the Elements
for this is the music of the land."

Alder Celtic Tree Month

The alder tree corresponds to the Ogham letter fearn (fair-n) and whispers to us of our inner teacher or oracle and supports the bridge to our subconscious. Used to make shields and associated with Celtic hero and oracle Bran the Blessed, the alder tree can provide shelter from emotional influences, allowing you to see clearly things that you may have overlooked. You may ask the alder tree for inner spiritual guidance to a question. Fill a glass with water before you go to sleep, holding the glass of water before you, ask yourself the question. Keep a pen and paper handy to record your dream - when you awake, the answer to your question should be revealed.  With your finger, trace the alder/fearn symbol over the glass, and drink the water after you hold it high. Repeat the following verse three times.
"Alder tree, guide of might,
grant me intuition on this night.
Blessed Bran, alders trees kin,
Show to me the sage within."
