Thor's Day - Jupiter Day - the Day of Vision, Spiritual Insight and Expansion.... there are minor magickal energies for eliminating obstacles to wealth, power, fame.

Hecate's Night - There are two times in which you can observe Hecate's Night - one on the last day of a Lunar Cycle and/or the last night of month.  Today is the last night of March - and there is end of this lunar cycle this coming Saturday.  I look on this duality as being a solar Hecate's Night (such as tonight at the end of a month) and lunar Hecate's Night which can be this coming Saturday, the last night of this 3rd Lunar Cycle.
   Sometimes this rite is called Hecate's Deipnon (http://sites.google.com/site/hellenionstemenos/festivals/hekatesdeipnon)    "There are differing theories as to if Hekate's Deipnon is solely meal offered to Hekate, or if there is a secondary intent of the meal offering going to the less fortunate. For example: Aristphanes Plutus 410ff (trans. O'Neill) (Greek comedy C5th to 4th B.C.):

'Ask Hecate whether it is better to be rich or starving;
she will tell you that the rich send her a meal every
month [i.e. food placed inside her door-front shrines]
and that the poor make it disappear before it is even
served.'

For this reason a very popular way to make this Deipnon is to make a donation of food or money to a local food bank/shelf or other charitable group.
     Traditional offerings include:
*sweepings from the home
* garlic
* eggs
* leeks
* things you don't want to bring
  into the next month/cycle.

Balsamic Moon - (or waning crescent moon) rises before dawn and sets midafternoon. She is the last sliver of Moon seen in the eastern sky in the dawn and in the very early morning. The Balsamic Moon is the COMPOST phase of the moon plant, when nutrients remain in the soil, providing nourishment for the next new seed. Those who are born during a Balsamic Moon phase possess the potential to be wise, insightful, understanding and patient. They are prophetic and unique.
    So when is the Dark Moon? :

Also known as the "dead" Moon, this is the time when there is no solar reflection, leaving the lunar face in darkness. The dark lasts about three days before the new crescent appears.

Is this the same as the New Moon?:

For many, the new Moon begins at the moment of the Sun-Moon conjunction, but for others it remains the dark Moon until that crescent is in view. As the Moon wanes toward those final days of darkness, there's often a turn inward. In those contemplative moments, the inner reality is presented through dreams and waking visions. It's fertile ground for the new Moon intentions to be conjured.
     As Auntie Moon in her blog has advice to give us for this waning moon period:
http://auntiemoon.wordpress.com/2011/03/30/beyond-the-chart-a-few-things-to-inspire-during-the-dark-moon-of-pisces/

Moon in Pisces - The Moon in Pisces reveals our permeability. We dream, and need to ground our dreams.  We care, but can become overwhelmed by our awareness unless we feel spirit working through us. This transit is a time to imagine, share, sense, meditate, nurture, soak, and find constructive ways to be sensitive.  With Moon in Pisces we feel the world with compassion, heightened senses and strong imagination. We need quiet time in the temple or back under our covers to deal with the sensory overload. This is a time to vision, listen to our inner voices, allow creative juices to flow and touch each other with new awareness. During Moon in Pisces emotional life is more introverted. Intuition is at is height and psychic energy is powerful. You are now able to get in touch with your deepest self, but it can also be a time of vagueness, unclarity, and uncertainty. Pisces is about endings as a result to internal processing.  You may notice during this moon transit a moodiness in others around you as well as with yourself. Moon in Pisces is the best time to work magick involving dreamwork, clairvoyance,
telepathy, music, and the creative arts. Healing rituals for ailments of the feet or lymph glands are also done at this time. Those people who were born under a Pisces Moon have extra perceptions and need to built the strength (not defense) to match. They are sensitive, intuitive, responsive and compassionate; their dreams are a gift.

Woden's Day - Mercury Day - the Day of Communication and Connection..... there are minor magickal energies to work in your Book of Shadows and defend against psychic attack... with Mercury Retrograde beginning this afternoon you will find you need to take extra  care in your communications.

Mercury Retrograde - In my area (western Pennsylvania) this retrograde will begin 4:47PM.... and it will challenge us to be thorough and patient, even though outside the joy of Spring urges us to move forward enthusiastically. During a retrograde period, it is not a good idea to push forward any practical venture. It is better to prepare for it rather than doing it and to move ahead later with the direct phase of Mercury.  Mercury goes Retrograde three times every year. As it slows down before the Retrograde period, we call it the Pre-Retrograde. Mercury starts losing power then and hence new ventures cannot do well in this period. Then there is the Post-Retrograde when Mercury picks up or gains speed but is still moving slowly enough to cause a slow progress in the projects undertaken. During the Mercury Retrograde period it is best advised not to venture into any new territory and to stay put. Actually Mercury keeps going around the Sun, always in the same direction and more or less at the same speed. Knowing the Mercury retrograde periods can help you to plan your ventures in advance so that they do not go off-track.
      The first Mercury retrograde in 2011 will take place in the fire sign of Aries between the dates of March 30th through April 23rd. This is an important phase as Jupiter and Uranus have also transited into the house of Aries. . All of the Mercury retrogrades in 2011 are in fiery signs, which emphasizes the energy, enthusiasm and innovation. The other retrograde periods are in Leo (in August), and Sagittarius (in November/December). These same sign and the same degrees were the Mercury retrogrades experienced in 1932.   Mercury will move Direct on April 23rd.
       Representative of our thinking aptitudes and perceptions, Mercury rules all forms of communications, methods of transport and commerce. During retrograde periods glitches can occur within communication systems, modes of transport and commerce related dealings that require us to slow down and reassess our approaches and choices.

    You may have noticed if you have read through the above articles that dreaming and dreams are mentioned over and over again.  So in these waning days of this lunar cycle Dreaming would seem to be one of the main things to pay attention to.  Here is an Celtic Spirit essay regarding this - the essay for
today - March 30th..

The Hidden Truth of Dreams

"Your dream tells a truth about yourself. A truth you hide from
while you are awake. A truth you need to know about yourself. For
your.... wellbeing."
___ David Rudkin, Penda's Fen

     Dreams are messagers of the soul. Every one of us has dreams, whether or not we remember them. Dreams speak of hidden truths in oblique ways - truths that we have not been able to understand or assimilate in our waking lives. Their enigmatic symbolism cannot be decoded by books or dream interpretation that give pat or plausible answers for standard dream themes; dreams must be decoded entirely by the dreamer and scrutinized for their personal symbolism.
    What is the truth that we need to know about ourselves? Whatever we have covered over or hidden from in our daily lives has a way of breaking through in self-disclosing (and often pun-filled) ways in our dreams, For example, we may dream of putting an annoying but senior colleague at work into the garbage, while in waking life we seriously wish that we could put a lid on his snide remarks.
      In a society that defines dreams as wacky or illusory, it can be hard for us to realize that they reveal to us the nature of our waking self-delusion. Dreams not only warn of dangers; they also reveal areas that we have never dared explore because of their power or wonder. Dreams bring us to meet the potentialities of our soul in a remarkable manner: we may dream that we are flying, dancing, shining, meeting - deep truths that are the very essence of our well-being, that we can find, court, and assimilate if only we listen to our soul's messagers.

"Take one dream fragment from this week. Without giving it a psychological spin-dry, look at it honestly and see what truth it has to tell you. What emotions does your dream evoke

Moon in Aquarius - The Moon in Aquarius connects us to our community, reminds us that we are in this together. It asks us to make sure we walk our talk and integrate our philosophy with our politics. We abstract, communicate and work the crowd, but may be less intimate. The Moon in Aquarius expands our circles and offers the magic of collaboration; spirit and politics weave together. We can get too farsighted now and need to stay aware of others' feelings. Let go of assumptions and find new, unusual allies. This is a transit of dealing with facts, organizing political issues, desire to save the world, through social action, connecting with others in social situations, scientific pursuits, detachment, and the need to come and go without restrictions.   Aquarius Moon's monthly transit is a dramatic mood change. Where Capricorn values tradition and caution, Aquarius indicates anything new, innovative, different or unconventional. Extremes of behavior occur during this moon, especially extremes of optimism and pessimism. Women feel the need to be friendly and social but don't want to be too personal or go too deep. Aquarius Moon can be detached or rational rather than emotional and will change only if it's logical to do so.  Moon in Aquarius is the best time to work magick involving science, freedom, creative expression, problem-solving, extrasensory abilities, friendship and the breaking of bad habits or unhealthy addictions. Healing rituals for ailments of the calves, ankles, or blood are also done at this time. Those born under an Aquarius moon sign are far sighted with a gentle stubbornness; they understand group dynamics and may be more aware in family, tribe, community than they are in their most intimate relationships.

Moon Day - the Day of Remembering and Feeling... Impression Day. Mondays (Moon Days) are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work different types of moon magick on Mondays. So light up those lunar scented candles - Jasmine, Gardenia, White Rose or White Poppy, Bluebell if you can find them - and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color - silver, pale blue or gray and of course white.  Wear your silver jewelry - dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a variety of melons for a snack. Brew a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night's sleep.  At this time in our lunar cycle you will have to get up very early in the morning to view the moon as it rises after 5:00AM tomorrow morning but it is worth it to see the crescent come up on the horizon.

Sun Day - is the Day of Intent, Creation, and Renewal ......  there are minor magickal energies for working spells/rites to banish disease and/or addictions.

Pagan Time -  As witches we keep Round Time - we are the Keepers of the Wheel and we turn with it, round and round the seasons of the Year.  With Straight Time - its linear line for the end and the beginning, we never meet.  No wonder those who don't keep time within the Wheel of the Year become confounded and confused as exactly where they are. Witches believe time and the seasons to be cyclical, a belief represented by the turning of a great wheel known as the Wheel of the Year.
     Marking the eight special days in the Wiccan calendar known as sabbats is a wonderful way to become more aware of nature’s seasons. These sabbats may be represented as the eight spokes of the wheel of the year.  Each sabbat has its own special atmosphere thanks to the intimate link between Wicca and the natural world and her seasons. Four of the sabbats are linked to key events in the solar cycle, while the others are ancient agricultural festivals that are Celtic in origin.  As the seasons change, the earth’s energy and its effect on human change too. The sabbats are an opportunity to honor, celebrate and to become consciously aware of these changes, effects that while significant and real, are easily lost in the modern world.  Witches believe that the beauty and simplicity of the sabbats can have a profound effect on one's intuitive appreciation of the environment.  The energies are rising now - so
wake up and take note of the rapid changes happening outside your window.

Trees and the Life of the Planet -
An essay from The Celtic Spirit by Caitlin Matthews.....

"Every tree is a living watercourse; its roots, trunk and branches conduct water up from the soil to the leaves, from which it then passes into the atmosphere."  from Nigel Pennick, Celtic Sacred Landscapes

      The interdependence of all living things is something we often take for granted. It goes unnoticed in the daily round, so we forget that what happens in one place has its effect upon another place. It is only now that deforestation has been revealed to be a terrible legacy to our children that we begin to appreciate the contribution of trees to the life of our planet.
      At this time of year, the spring rains have an important function in the revivification of the land, especially around the full moon. Trees are able to draw up the rainfall from their roots to their highest branches so that the canopy can become green again. As the leaves emerge from their buds, we notice a corresponding unfurling of spirit in ourselves as we respond with gladness to the annual regreening of the world.
      As those leaves unfurl, they exude oxygen, so vital for our planet's atmosphere and our own living breath. The carbon dioxide that human beings exhale is absorbed and transformed by trees. Our lives and those of trees are beautifully and aptly intertwined as we share and replenish the atmosphere for each other. Our breath and the exhalation of trees have a symbiotic link that is necessary to our very life.
     Verdancy of spirit comes when the sap rises in our souls, when we return to a state of thankfulness and welcome the spring with joy.

"Attune to the life of a tree that grows near you. Meditate upon the life that you share. Even better, plant a tree."

Last Quarter - The Last Quarter Moon (or waning half moon) rises around midnight and sets around noon. Astrologically, the Moon is square to the Sun. She is visible from the time she rises until she sets.
The Last Quarter Moon is the HARVEST phase of the moon plant - the plant gives her life so that others may continue theirs.  Those who are born in the Last Quarter moon phase have a powerful internal life of reflection and transformation. They can assume different roles while balancing their internal and external worlds.

Moon in Capricorn - Moon in Capricorn inspires our ambitions for good or ill, we just have to be gentle on our souls if we're not there yet. Lead and manage, but do not manipulate or control. This transit is a time to organize, exercise discipline, work on foundations, make practical progress on a dream.   This moon transit brings energies for planning magick and takes your ideas, giving them form and hope. We can tap into our inner wisewoman - ask how form, ritual, organization or tradition can serve. This transit concerns leadership issues, security, responsibilities, the need to be recognized, desire to create environments, time to take care of business, deal with alternative healing for your body and intensification of your powers of concentration.
   After Sagittarius expansiveness, now we feel contraction and a time to pay attention to our needs for security, duties, obligations, drives and ambitions. It's good for setting and achieving goals, 'going for it' materially; as now we feel persistent and ambitious.  Capricorn brings a desire  to create environments and energy is slowed down. Be careful to avoid insensitivity to others, and stay out of negative and pessimistic mind sets that will only drag you down. Take this moon transit to deal with your material plane, especially if you have neglected it too long. Do non-traditional healing as Capricorn is the sign of the medicine woman.  Moon in Capricorn is the best time to work magick for organization, ambition, recognition, career and political matters. Healing rituals for ailments of the calves, ankles, or blood are also done at this time. Those born under a Capricorn moon sign, have a strong work ethic, competence, and leadership capacity, but may need to learn to love themselves holding still.

Moon in Sagittarius - The Moon in Sagittarius gets us moving; it brings cheerful impatience and refreshing honesty. We need wide open minds, souls and attitudes, but can't sit still. This moon transit brings the time to get honest, forgive, dance, hike, explore and connect to the natural world. It brings out our inner-Artemis; we feel the need to roam, to explore in body and soul. Our curiosity intensifies. Check out untraveled territory and connect with the organic world.  Restless, enthusiastic Sagittarius loves adventure,  change, and motion. The moon in this sign is a time for philosophy, metaphysics, travelling, studying and freedom from responsibility.  You feel the need to feel free of restrictions and to be spontaneous. The warm and friendly vibes of Sagittarius make it a good time for seeing new places, encountering different people and relating a changing environment. Moon in Sagittarius is the best time to work magick for publications, legal matters, travel, and truth. Healing rituals for ailments of the liver, thighs or hips are also done at this time.  Those born under a Sagittarius Moon are funny, restless, freedom-loving, and direct; they are a natural global citizen but need also to look for answers at home. They accept the wild in all sentient beings.

Disseminating Moon - is the waning full moon getting visibly smaller. She rises midevening and set midmorning. She is visible from the time she rises almost until she sets. As we go into the darkening phase of the Disseminating Moon we get the FRUIT of the moon plant's life cycle - the fruits of wisdom and experience. Keywords for the Disseminating phase are: demonstration, distribution, sharing and introspection. It is the time in a cycle to further process your advancement toward your goal(s) by looking at the results of your adjusting actions taken at the Full phase.  During this phase you gain clarity by sharing what you've learned through awareness. Demonstrate your power of abundance by giving back to your community. Visit friends. Distribute your knowledge. SHARE. Reach out and touch someone.  For those who were born in a Disseminating Moon phase life must have meaning, purpose. They enjoy sharing their ideas with others.

Moon in Scorpio - The Moon in Scorpio gives us attitude, and brings out our primal side; it sharpens our curiosity and our edges. our focus to the point of obsession. Fluff doesn't cut it; get real or let it go; honor privacy, don't crowd. This transit is a time to: dig deep, investigate, do surgery (cut out what you don't need), keep secrets and love each other up. Scorpio weaves the visible and invisible worlds together. We see through and into the roots. Direct this energy away from obsession and towards creation. Sexuality can be potent, musky.  The moon's transit through Scorpio is a time of death and rebirth (not necessarily physical death), intensity, extremes and heightened sensitivity. It is good for focusing, being sexual and doing psychic work because of the deep emotions and desires Scorpio brings.  Emotional resentments from the past can surface and block your heightened creative energy, so fight urges to be suspicious, secretive and moody. This is a time of regeneration and cleaning out of emotional debris from the previous lunar cycle/month. There is great energy to complete things and focus on certain areas that you have found yourself too scattered to deal with in the previous cycle. Moon in Scorpio is the best time to work magick involving sexual matters, power, psychic growth, secrets and fundamental transformations. Healing rituals for ailments of the reproductive organs is also done during this period of time. Those born under a Scorpio Moon are intense, fiercely curious, and need to create solitude with healthy boundaries rather than isolation.

Moon Day - the Day of Remembering and Feeling..

Spring Cleaning  (This is a Celtic essay from The Celtic Spirit by Caitlin Matthews that I post in another blog I have - In the Mists of Avalon - http://inthemistsofavalon.blogspot.com/ )

    "Old loves, old insults, old wrongs, old hates, old prides, old contempts, old horrows. old taboos, old totems ....... [Clan] I shed theses worm-skins of remembrance?"
   ____ John Cowper Powys, Obstinate Cymic

    At this season, we are often driven into a bout of spring cleaning, throwing out the unwanted and bringing new order to our household. But what of deeper hurts, the old anguish, the festering wrongs, and the immovable obstinacies of our very being?
   Select one such malingering obstruction to be removed from your mental attic by asking and answering the following questions:

* What past wrong or hurt embitters you the most?
* What past relationship still linger painfully?
* What childhood horror shadows you?
* What irrational prejudice still clouds your horizon?
* To what or whom are you still shackled by hate?
* What long-dead voice of authority still has you leaping?
* What old story against yourself still rankles?

  Now take a walk in nature, meditating upon the issue at hand. Let your eye fall upon things that seem to speak to you about your own case: these might be fallen leaves, pieces of rubbish blowing about, feathers, berries, bark, mushrooms, flowers and so on. Without damaging the landscape and its inhabitants, collect some of these things and assemble them into an emblem of your issue. These collected items can be tied together with string or woven together with grasses. Create something really beautiful. When it is complete, make a small fire outside. Relinquish your issue(s) to the cleansing flames and burn the emblems you have made, visualizing their influence passing away from you. Stay and watch the emblem turn to ash and be borne away.

Moon in Libra - The Moon in Libra opens our sociability, brings a friendly, egalitarian vibe and encourages us to connect. Bread and roses - we need beauty like we need air. This transit is a time to create, beautify and find our core balance and balance with others. Moon in Libra highlights the magick of the dance of interrelatedness - friendly, romantic and searching for a way to connect. Libra asks us to treat those around us as equals and make sure our politics and arts, our lovemaking and our networks integrate. All partnership activity will be heightened during this moon transit. Be aware of superficial bonding just to ease the pain of aloneness.  Moon in Libra is the best time to work magick involving artistic work, justice, court cases, partnerships and unions, mental stimulation and karmic, spiritual or emotional balance. Healing rituals for ailments of the lower back or kidneys are also done during this period of time. Those who were born under this moon sign came here to feel the beauty in cooperation. They may need to learn to hear their own voice under conflict. They offer us bone-deep kindness, mediation and justice.

Sun Day - is the Day of Intent, Creation and Renewal.....

Super Full Moon - I watched the Moon rise last night and it was beautiful - like a huge orange ball coming up through the trees.  The Moon became Full at 2:10PM EDST yesterday and was at 29 degrees in its zodiac sign of Virgo and so passed out of Virgo at the moment it reached it's fullness.  About two hours later it entered the Cardinal Air sign of Libra.  I felt quite fortunate to have clear skies in our area
so I could see this Super Sized Full Moon.  The moon as at lunar perigee when it became full and this is a point it reaches every lunar cycle.  The elliptical orbit of the Moon brings it close to the Earth and this lunar cycle it happened in the Full moon phase. A Full Moon at perigee occurs every couple of years or so. But the perigee point distance is not always the same - it can vary by thousands of miles, sometimes being nearer, or further out. This perigee point in Full Moon is the closest one to the Earth in 18 years.

Ostara - The hours of daylight have increased and are briefly equal to those of night. From now until Autumn Equinox  there is more daylight than night time.  This is the Spring Equinox, whose true date will actually vary slightly each year. Ostara is sacred to the Anglo-Saxon Dawn Goddess Ostara, or Eostre, who derived from Ishtar, Astarte and Isis, and whose symbols are the egg of rebirth and the Hare. It is the forerunner of that other festival of rebirth, Easter. To the Greeks this was the time when Persephone returned from the Underworld and Demeter cast off her cloak of mourning, allowing life to return to the land. Our language still holds traces of Eostre, in the words oestrus and oestrogen.
   Spring is with us now; there will be signs of growing life all around; leaves on the trees, flowers  in bloom, creatures rearing their young. Try to get into the countryside to appreciate these changes; you will see much to tell you of the return of life to the Land, you may even see a Hare. This festival is colored light green and yellow. Look for yellow flowers like primroses and daffodils. When you see your first, make a wish to the Goddess and ask Her Blessing. If, on your walk, you come across sheep's wool on a fence, take a little home with you and leave it outside for the birds to like their nests.
[From: "The Real Witches' Year by Kate West]

Spring Equinox Rite - The Spring Equinox, when day and night are equal in length, is a time of balance.  How appropriate to happen in the zodiac moon sign of Libra!  Also know as Oestara it is the festival of Eostre or Ostara, the Anglo-Saxon Goddess of Spring. This is an excellent time for some personal 'spring cleaning', a time to be rid of the bad and encourage the good into your life.
    Prepare by making two lists of 9 items each. The first should be things which you would like to be rid of. The first 3 are personal, perhaps bad habits; the next 3 affect your interactions with others, such as old resentments or guilt; and the final three affect the Land such as the loss of young life due to cars on the roads.
    Make a second list of 9, again in 3 parts, of things you would like to bring, maybe a new job for yourself, more patience in your dealing with others and the plentiful growth of crops.
    Light a black candle and read the first list aloud three times. Burn the paper and ask the Goddess to take these things from you. Visualize these negatives burning in the flames and being carried away in the smoke. When the paper has completely burnt, put the candle out.  This little rite is perfect with us going into the waning time of our lunar cycle.  Now, the second list about things to bring into your life, I would suggest you do it on the next New Moon - April 3rd - which unfortunately will be during a Mercury Retrograde phase.... so perhaps you may wish to do it now, at this time regardless of the waning moon.
    Light a white candle and read aloud three times the list of things you would like to bring to your life. Burn this paper and ask the Goddess to bring these things to you. Visualize your wishes being carried to the Goddess in the smoke. Let this candle burn all the way down.  As you give your energy to positive thoughts, let the negatives fade and pass from you.
{From "The Real Witches' Year" (slightly modified) by Kate West]

The Sun in Aries - Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and a Fire sign, indicating passion, energy, and creativity. It is also a Cardinal sign, bringing eagerness, the urge to reach out and to take action, but also impatience.  Those born when the Sun is in Aries are usually energetic, assertive, expressive and spontaneous. Typically they give off an air of activity and urgency, and often sexuality. It is hard to miss an Arian when they are in the room!  They are impulsive and restless, often seeking quick results. Enterprising and courageous with an adventurous spirit, they spirit, they can appear aggressive and self-centered. While being quick thinking they rarely pay attention to detail, so the projects they conceive often aground. Working well where initiative and enterprise are needed, they are great at exploring new avenues, so long as they are partnered with someone with a practical side. They are passionate in love, but may seem tactless and insensitive, especially as they are not good at listening. On the negative side they can be selfish, impatient, tactless and rude.
    For Arians this is a time to play to your strengths but be aware of your weaknesses; conceive new plans but put off execution until the Sun enters a new home which will be Taurus. Be particularly aware of the need to let partners feel that they are listened to and that their ideas and feelings are appreciated. For others this is the time to use the ambient energy to seek new solutions to stagnant problems. If you know an Arian, ask them for advice, but give it serious thought before taking action!

Celtic Tree Month of Fearn/Alder:  This is the first day of the Fearn/Alder tree month. Among the Celts, the alder was especially revered for its magickal properties. Irish myths records that the first man was born from this tree, just as the first woman was born from the Rowan.  When cut, the sap of the Alder assumes a rusty color, which gave rise to the idea that the tree .  In the ancient world this was seen as an indication of the tree's generosity that it was giving of itself to help defend the land. Seeing as Alders grow, most often by water and generally help to make the soil by their very presence, this is not difficult to understand. Since time immerorial the Alder tree has provided a strong dye, and this has led to its widespread use by spinners and weavers.

Moon in Virgo - The Moon in Virgo sends us back to work and gives us a to-do list. We become impatiently aware of what needs to be improved, fixed, or healed.  Our compassion is strong, but we can get irriated at less industrious folk. This transit is a time to: edit, critique, care, exercise, investigate, study and heal but be gentle with others. Don't get stuck in your head. During this transit important issues are practicality, organization, clearning up your diet or your house, healing your body or offering healing to others and attending to loose ends. After the Leo party, it's time to clean up our act and turn our attentions to the matter of our health and hygiene. Practical Virgo cleans the house, sets things in order and washes the dog. She purifies and organizes our diet and sets us on the healthy road for the month. It is a time for taking responsibility and cleaning up the messes we've been leaving. Virgo brings painstaking attention to detail; housecleaning is a good way to work through a Virgo transit. Emotionally this can be an inward time when we can reflect on personal relationshiups.  Moon in Virgo is the best time to work magick involving employment, intellectual matters, health and dietary concerns. Healing rituals for ailments of the intestines or nervous system are also done during this period of time.
If you were born with a Virgo Moon sign in your chart, you are curious, responsible, caring but need to cultivate gentle acceptance of self and others.

Gibbous Moon - The Gibbous Moon rises midafternoon and sets before dawn. She is the bulging Moon getting ready to be full, visible soon after she rises until she sets. The Gibbous Moon is the BUD of the moon plant, the pulse of life tightly wrapped, wanting to expand. Keywords for the Gibbous phase are: analyze, prepare, and trust. It is the time in a cycle to process the results of the actions taken during the First Quarter. During this phase you are gathering information. Give up making judgments, it will only lead to worry. Your knowledge is incomplete. Laugh. Analyze and filter. LOOK WITHIN.  For those who are born during the Gibbous phase - their talents lie in the ability to refine, organize and purify.
They are seekers, utilizing spiritual tools as guides on their path.

Moon in Leo - The Moon in Leo illuminates our extroverted sides; we brim with generosity but can get stuck in our perspective. This transit is a time to shine, express, dramatize, celebrate, create, appreciate, stage, reach out and be generous with our attention; watch assumptions and do not push the stubborn. With Moon in Leo we have the guts to be visible and bring culture to life. In your life arrange, glorify and weed the extraneous so your star can shine. Dramatic happenings, especially concerning emotions, being the center of attention, exuberance, vitality and working with patriarchal issues are all hallmarks of a Leo Moon transit. This is a time of vital energy, affection and romance. Enjoy the warmth of kindness and generosity. excitement and exuberance, parties and celebrations.  Watch out! You will want to spend money during a Leo transit.  It's hard to recognize limits in Leo Moon transits.
It's also a time when power issues erupt. Who will be the center of attention?  Ambition and independent leadership are important issues. Leo has great pride, which is evident now.  Moon in Leo is the best time to work magick involving authority, power over others, courage, fertility or childbirth. Healing rituals for ailments of the upper back, spine, or heart are done during this period of time. As the moon moves to Virgo, (4:53PM EDST on Thursday), the ambitious energy of Leo becomes unassuming.
For those who were born under a Leo Moon sign - they can fill a room with personality and make the most of any situation, but may need to learn to honor the quiet, the mundane or another's reality.

Mother Earth Water Walk

    The Mother Earth Water Walk began in the spring of 2003, when a group of Ojibwe women and their supporters walked all the way around Lake Superior, calling attention to pollution of the fresh water of the Great Lakes. Josephine Mandamin, an elder and grandmother leading the walks, said: "Our water is not for sale! The Great Lakes are precious and sacred to our being, as water is one of the basic elements needed for all life to exist."
   Each year the Waterwalkers have continued to walk around another of the Great Lakes - Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Ontario, Lake Erie - until in 2008 they completed the circumnaviation of all five lakes. Ho Waterwalkers!
    Mandimin says, "The walk was for the next generations. They will know, Mother Earth knows, that we walked with the water for all creation."

Moon in Cancer - The Moon in Cancer deepens our feelings; our moods are stormy and vast, our hunger and desire to feed others sharpen. We portect our own, nest in our cave, need to know we're safe. Hunger grows, but for more than food. With Moon in Cancer our feelings take the lead. Cancer encourages the wisdom rising out of our oceanic unconscious through moods and feelings. Ground in the magick of our home as a temple. This transit concerns desires about a home, emotional security, entertaining friends, cooking, security issues, nostalgia, and the desire to nurture. This Moon brings heightened sensitivity - good time for doing psychic work. Moon in Cancer is the best time to work magick for home and domestic life. First Quarter Moon - The First Quarter Moon (or waxing half moon) rises around noon and sets around midnight. Astrologically, the Moon is square to the Sun. She is visible from the time she rises until she sets. The First Quarter Moon phase is the GROWTH phase. Roots go deeper, stems shoot up and leaves form as she creates a new strong body. Keywords for the First Quarter phase are: action, expression, growth, and breaking away. It is the time in a lunar cycle to take the initial action necessary to achieve your goal(s) by expressing your needs and desires. FEEL & MOVE. Make phone calls. Write letters. Dance. Act now. For those who were born during the First Quarter phase, they live a full active life - old structures are cleared away providing room for new development.

Saturn's Day - the Day of Manifestation and Structure, Assessment and Responsibility...

Let's Get Real: Realistic Expectations of Magick:

    Magical powers are natural powers. Magick is part of real life. Magick is not an excuse to assume that Earthly laws, the rules of nature, will somehow be suspended, that exceptions will be made for you. Magick just reminds us that Earth's laws are a little more complex than we often care to remember.
   Remember, thinking symbolically means that things operate on multiple levels simultaneously. Yes, that big, strange, stray dog may be your response to a petition from Hecate, but no, that doesn't mean necessarily means that you should approach and pet it. Seeing a coyote in your neighborhood is a powerful good luck but not if you leave your little Dandie Dinmont terrier in the backyard unattended. Magick isn't license to abandon common sense. Ideally, they enhance each other.
    Magick doesn't supersede the laws of nature: it is a law of nature. Magick works best in conjunction with other efforts on other planes, as mutual reinforcement. You can do all the fertility spells you like; if you're not having sex too, or at least in vitro, they can't work. Even Isis, who can revive the dead, at least momentarily needed the golden penis. No matter how many professional success candles you light, if you don't show up for the job interview, you're wasting the wax. There are contraceptive spells. These aren't intended to allow you to forget biological cycles; they work hand-in-hand reinforcing each other. Don't use magick as a challenge to Earth, unless you don't care who wins.
    What does it mean when, despite your best efforts, your spell just doesn't work, when Muddy Waters sings, "I've got my mojo working but it don't work on you"?  When a medication doesn't help, we don't throw in the towel on magick, to refute its existence, when a spell doesn't work for us.
    Maybe something in the preparation of the spell wasn't completely correct. Maybe the most beneficial time or day wasn't chosen. Maybe the energy wasn't right. Sometimes the spell bears repeating or sometimes, it just isn't the right spell for you. You may need to substitute another. Sometimes magick just doesn't operate on the schedule we desire and all that's called for is a little patience.
    Sometimes, when a spell doesn't work, it's a message from the Earth Mother to reassess your situation and alternatives. Once in a while, we ask for things that sincerely believe at that time to be in our best interest but the Earth Mother thinks different. Sometimes the powers that be don't grant our wishes or they put obstacles in the way of our magick for our own protection. How many of us, years later, have looked back wonderingly at narrow escapes, grateful we didn't receive what we requested at the time? When a charm consistently fails, consider whether this is your scenario: Are you really asking for what's best for you?
    Magick involves energy adjustments. With a little experience, you will feel something, which can only be described as being a 'click', that indicates that you spell is complete and likely to be successful. It's like a key in a lock, you can play and play with it, but when it actually turns and opens, you're aware, you feel it as it's opening the door. You'll also feel right away if the spell doesn't work. No need to wait for weeks; you'll know pretty immediately if you need to find an alternative. This awareness comes with experience and experience can only follow practice.

Moon in Gemini - The Moon in Gemini wakes us up; we lose our concentration but quicken our communication. The conversation sparkles, our thinking broadens but doesn't deepen. This transit is the time to network, investigate, translate, brainstorm, meditate, edit, explain, and broadcast. A Gemini Moon transit quickens our nervous system. Build a web of understanding and absorb new information. This is a time of communication and other means of expression, freedom, adaptability, short journeys, reading or writing, desires for variety and having more than one thing going at once.  All communication such as talking, writing or reading and intellectual matters are easier during Gemini Moon transits.  Women are more adaptable and changeable, so take all statements and promises with a grain of salt, especially if the person has proven fickle in the past. It's a hard time to make decisions, but a good time to use your wit and cleverness in conversation. Moon in Gemini is the best time to work magick for good communication, change of residence, writing, public relations and travel. Healing rituals for ailments of the shoulders, arms, hands or lungs are also done during this period of time.  For those born with a Gemini Moon sign in their natal charts can talk to anyone, think fast, multi-task, shift moods with grace, but need to choose depth and focus.

An Herbal Candle Spell for Abundance and Health

  The Moon is in the sign of Taurus, a time of working for material resources so
let's combine the herbal information with the color and candle information for a Thursday spell. You will need a few specific supplies for this spell, but the plants are common and easy to locate. You may not have to loook very far - maybe not any further than your own back yard.

* 2 deep blue votive candles (you can switch these to purple)
* 2 green votive candles
* 4 votive cups
* A lighter or matches
* A sprig of honeysuckle (flower or foliage)
* A few leaves of fresh mint
* A small cluster of fresh pine needles
* A 6 x 6-inch square of green or blue fabric
* A 12-inch piece of ribbon (try a Jupiter color which can be royal blue, purple, or green) to tie the
    fabric up into a charm bag.
* A safe, flat surface on which to set up the spell.

   Arrange the candles in their holders in a neat circle. Next, lay the foliage on the inside of the candle ring. Take your time and make this look as festive as you can, just make sure to keep the herbal ingredients well away from the flames. Then ground and center yourself, and repeat the following spell three times:
"Jupiter's bright colors are in these candles four
Money and abundance they will bring to my door
Add some mint, pine and honeysuckle to this Witch's spell
I call for health and prosperity, and all will be well."

   Now I want you to imagine yourself surrounded by a bright blue-green halo of light. Envision that this light protects you, encourages healing, promotes abundance and invites prosperity into your life. Hold this imagery in place for a few moments.
   Close the spell with this line:
"For the good of all, with harm to none
By color and herb, this spell is done!"

   Let the candles burn until they go out on their own. When the candles are finished, the herbs will be empowered and ready to go. Tuck the herbal ingredients into the center of the blue or green cloth, and then gather up the edges. Tie the bundle closed with the ribbon. And there you have it - an instant charm bag!
   Keep the prosperity charm bag with you, in your pocket or purse, for one week. If you care to re-empower the charm bag, repeat the spell the following Thursday. Just place the bag in the center of the candle ring and you're good to go.

Crescent Moon on Woden's Day

Moon in Taurus - The Moon in Taurus grounds us; it slows us down and wakes our sensual nature and stubbornness, helps us dig deeper roots.  This moon transit asks us to discover what nurtures us. We can almost feel the mud oozing between our toes, awakening our senses and sensuality, and growing our stubbornness. This transit is a time to cultivate our material resources, our homes and our body. The forceful becomes solid, calm and patient during Taurus. There is a desire to protect material goods and a strong need for financial security. It is a poor time for change or getting a loan as people are very cautious and reserved about money, especially during the first part of this transit.  The middle of Taurus
is more calm. It is a good time to continue or to finish projects, or to stay at home with family.  Taurus gives attention to order and detail. Emotionally, there can stubbornness, but great sensitivity to others. Moon in Taurus is the best time to work magick for love, real estate,  material acquisition's, and money. Healing rituals for ailments of the throat, neck, and ears are also done during this period of time.  For someone born under a Taurus moon sign they have roots that go deeply and change slowly. They collect, touch, support, see the sacred in the world of matter. Being steady, they can loan their strength to others, but may need to learn the beauty in change.

Crescent Moon - The Crescent Moon (or waxing crescent moon) rises midmorning and sets after sunset. She is the first visible sliver of Moon seen in the western sky in the late afternoon or early evening.  The Crescent Moon is the SPROUT of the moon plant. The seed has broken through the earth and reaches up as she ventures from the dark moist earth she has known. Keywords for the Crescent phase are: expansion, growth, struggle, opportunity. It is the time in a lunar cycle that you gather the wisdom learned in the New phase and communicate your intention to move forward. Light a candle.
Write or read an affirmation. LISTEN & ABSORB. Commit to your goal(s).   For those born during
a Crescent moon phase - you must break from the past to create your own destiny.

Tiu's Day - Mars Day - the Day of Activity and Physicality, Passion and Desire.....There are Major magickal energies today for rites/spells for Increasing Productivity and Manifesting... Tuesday is the day to work any magick that falls in the category of increasing strength, courage, bravery, and passion.
All of these intense emotions are linked to this day's energies and your spells designed around these themes will have the extra punch when performed on this magickal day.

Moon Day - the Day of Remembering and Feeling - Impression Day .... there are minor magickal energies for rites/spells regarding feminine and or domestic issues.

Simple New Moon/Crescent Moon spells -   You might see the waxing New Moon in the western sky at dusk or a little later any day now. Some of the things you could do are these:

When you first see the New Moon, turn over the money in your pocket or purse so that it will increase.
It's best to look straight at the Moon herself, not through the glass of a window.

At the first sight of the New Moon, make sure you are standing on earth or soft grass (not on pavement). Bow three times or turn around sun-wise three times and make a wish.

When you first spot the New Moon, kiss the first person of the opposite sex that you see - without saying a word. Before the lunar cycle is over this will bring a gift to treasure (but it may not be a material gift).

If you want to dream about your future lover, look at the New Moon over your right shoulder and say:

"New Moon, New Moon, tell me true
When, where, what and who.
New Moon, New Moon shining clear
Show my true love, drawing near."

 A little jasmine oil your pillow after this spell should make you dream about that special someone.
