First Quarter Moon - The age of this moon is 6 to 7 days and the Moon is 90-135 degrees ahead of the Sun, rises at noon and sets at midnight. Sunset is the prime time for the waxing Moon. From the time a new moon is sighted until it reaches the height of it's power as a full moon, the cycle is known as a waxing Moon. The lunar power constantly increases during this time, and as such, it's an ideal time to cast a spell requiring the fulfilment of a request. The waxing moon is for success, courage, friendship, luck or health. Astrologically the First Quarter Moon is square to the Sun. She is visible from the time She rises until She sets. The First Quarter Moon is the GROWTH phase. Roots go deeper, stems shoot up and leaves form as she creates a new strong body. Keywords for the First Quarter phase are: action, expression, growth, breaking away. It is the time in a lunar cycle to take initial action necessary to achieve your goal(s) by expressing your needs and desires. FEEL & MOVE. Make phone calls. Write letters. Dance. Act now. Those born in a First Quarter phase live a full active life - old structur4es are cleared away providing room for new development.

Moon in Pisces - The Moon entered the Mutable Water sign of Pisces yesterday morning at 9:45AM EST. During Moon in Pisces we dream, and need to ground our dreams. We care, but can become overwhelmed by our awareness unless we feel the spirit working through us. This transit is a time to imagine, share, sense, meditate, nurture, soak and find constructive ways to be sensitive. With Moon in Pisces we feel the world with compassion, heightened senses and strong imagination. We need quiet time in the temple or back under our covers to deal with sensory overload. This is a time to vision, listen to inner voices, and allow creative juices to flow. During Moon in Pisces emotional life is more introverted and intuition is at it's height with psychic energy very powerful. While you can get in touch with your deepest self it is also a time of vagueness, unclarity and uncertainty. Moon in Pisces is the best time to work magick involving dreamwork, clairvoyance, telepathy, music and the creative arts. Healing rituals for ailments of the feet or lymph glands are also done at this time.  This Pisces goes void of course late tonight at 10.26PM EST and will not enter the Cardinal Fire sign of Aries until 8:51PM EST tomorrow night. Those born under a Pisces Moon sign have extra perception and need to build the strength (not defense) to match. They are sensitive, intuitive, responsive and compassion; their dreams are a gift.

Earth Meditation:

As we move into Winter we also move into the season of Earth, the realm of the physical. For the Land this is a resting time and for us it is a time of reflection and remembering our achievements. The Earth is also a medium for repair and rejuvenation.  If the weather is warm enough this is best done barefoot outside. If it is too cold or wet then bring some earth indoors in bowls or on trays. Try ensure that it is relatively dry. Sit in such a way that you are comfortable with the soles of your feet and your hands touching the earth. Close your eyes and breathe deeply to relax. I like to do this meditation with a bowl of fairly dry earth which I can run my fingers through. Take some time to experience the texture against your skin. Take your forefinger of your strong hand and draw a circle over your third eye, the replace your hand on the soil. Continue breathing deeply and evenly until you can smell the earth. Now visualize the energy of the Earth, the pulse of the Land as a deep green pulsing light, raising up through your hands, regenerating and revitalizing you. See it pushing out all weariness and stress. When you feel truly in tune with the Land allow your breathing to resume its normal pace, open your eyes and rub your arms and legs to ground yourself. Tidy up after yourself but keep a little of the soil in a small pot in your windowsill throughout the Winter months.
