Disseminating Moon - Keywords for the Dissemination phase are: demonstration, distribution, sharing and introspection. This is the time in a lunar cycle to further process your advancement toward your goal by looking at the results of your adjusting action taken at the Full Moon phase. During this phase you gain clarity by sharing what youve learned through awareness. Demonstrate your power of abundance by giving back to your community. Visit friends. Distribute your knowledge. SHARE. Reach out and touch someone.
In the PM today there will be minor magickal energies for clarity. This after the moon passes into the Mutable Water Sign of Pisces. Today is Woden's Day (Mercury Day) - the day of Communication and Connection. We will be in the Fixed Air Sign of Aquarius up until this evening. So communications can be still strong most of the day.

OAK
The oak tree corresponds with the Ogham letter duir (doo-er) and is a symbol of strength and endurance, becoming a powerful spiritual symbol to the Celts. The oak month is the end of the reign of the Oak King - a good time cast off the old and welcome the new. This month you may contact the dryads of the oak to guide you through the doorway of change, embracing your inner strength. Surround a green candle with oak leaves and acorns or other oak tree representation. When you commune with the oak, write any messages you receive while in the other realm to further ponder. In this spell, you visualize a mighty oak tree with a magical door opening in the trunk. You will step inside and feel the power of the oak fill you. Begin by light the candle, then repeat three times:
and open to Her Wisdom."

Moon in Aquarius - This is a moon transit of dealing with facts, organizing, political issues, desire to save the world through social action, connecting with others in social situations, scientific pursuits, detachment, and the need to come and go without restrictions. Aquarius Moon's monthly transit is a dramatic mood change. Where Capricorn values tradition and caution, Aquarius indicates anything new, innovative, different or unconventional. Extremes of behavior occur during this moon, especially extremes of optimism and pessimism. Women feel the need to be friendly and social but don't want to be too personal or go to deep. Aquarius Moon can be detached or rational rather than emotional, and will change only if it's logical to do so. Aquarius is definitely her sister's keeper. She believes 'What happens to one woman happens to us all.' Freedom is important now, and you need to live with as few restrictions as possible. Groups play a big part in this moon as Aquarius favors any kind of group interaction, such as a ritual. The Moon in Aquarius expands our circles and offers the magick of collaborations; spirit and politics weave together. We can get too far-sighted now and need to stay aware of others' feelings. Let go of assumptions and find new, unusual allies. This is a time to gather plants, mulch, prune and talk to your garden. A woman who has Aquarius as her Moon sign, came here to understand group dynamics. She may need to learn to be comfortable with emotional intimacy. She offers us a global perspective and collaboration. Moon in Aquarius is the best time to work magick involving science, freedom, creative expression, problem-solving, extrasensory abilities, friendship, and the breaking of bad habits or unhealthy addictions. Healing rituals for ailments of the calves, ankles, or blood are also done at this time.

Tomorrow is the Full Moon - the Strong Sun Moon. The Sun has reached its zenith for this year and is now simply holding its position before beginning its waning journing towards the dark time of the year.
The fields are growing, the flowers blooming and some of the fruits and crops are ready. Strawberries are ready this time of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, and I noticed this morning that I have blackberries that are ripening. Days are much longer than in the winter. This is also going to be a Full Moon in Capricorn - one of the energies of a Capricorn moon transit is the desire to create environments and Capricorn is the sign of the medicine woman. Perhaps there is a healing ritual you would like to do. Healings rituals for a Capricorn moontime are ones for the knees, bones, teeth, and skin. Other magick for Moon in Capricorn is to work magick for organization, ambition, recognition, career and political matters.

Beltaine (Calan Mai) Quarter of the Year
June 24th, 2010
Moon in Sagittarius - this restless, enthusiastic transit brings us feelings of wanting adventure, change and motion. The moon in this sign is a time for philosophy, metaphysics, travelling, studying and freedom from responsibility. There are feelings of needing to feel free of restrictions and to be spontaneous. This restless and independent nature wishes to explore and the warm and friendly vibes make it a good time for seeing new places, encountering different people and relating to a changing environment. Moon in Sagittarius is the best time to work magick for publications, legal matters, travel, and truth. Healing rituals for ailments of the liver, thighs, or hips are also done best at this time.
There are Major magickal energies for rites/spells regarding Travel today. Thor's Day - the Day of Vision, Spiritual Insight and Expansion is going to compliment the energies of Moon in Sagittarius. Get out there and do something different!
Thor
Thor is another Scandinavian or Norse God. The son of Odin, and second only to him, his mother was giantess Fjorgynn, Jord or Hlodyn. Thor was seen as red-breaded and immensely strong. He epitomized bravery, strength and endurance, but also boasting and brutality. He was depicted as riding a chariot drawn by goats, wearing iron gauntlets, a belt of power called Megingjardir and carrying a magic hammer called Mjolnir or Destroyer. Thor was the God of sailors, farmers, and the lower classes, unlike his father who was God of Kings and warriors. He made his home in a mansion called Bilskinir. It is probably his appeal to the working classes which enabled his survival well into the onset of Christianity. Thor was sometimes depicted as a blacksmith and his day, Thursdays, was considered the best for funerals, marriages, and other contracts. This is still celebrated in the term 'married on the hammer', or 'married over the anvil', a tradition which still survives at Gretna Green, Scotland.
Thor's Hammer was traditionally said to break the ice of winter each year and was also thought to be the source of thunder in storms. Indeed he is close to the northern European thunder God Donar. One of the tales is of Mjolnir being stolen by the giant Thrym. Loki disguises Thor as Freya in order to trick Thrym into giving 'her' the Hammer as a wedding present. At this point Thor throws off his disguise and defeats the giant. Shaped like the "T", Thor's Hammer is often worn as a symbol for today's followers of the Northern traditions.

There are Major magickal energies for Solitary Magick before the moon goes void of course as given above. After the moon has gone void of course and entered a new sign, there are Major magickal energies for Work in the Astral. Also there are minor magickal energies today for divination and elemental magick in the morning.
Sun in Cancer
Cancer is a Water sign indicating the emotions and feelings. It is also a Cardinal sign bringing eagerness, impatience, action and anxiety Those born with the Sun in Cancer generally appear to be self-assured even tough, whereas underneath they can be highly sensitive and easily hurt. They are home makers and clannish, protective and defensive of their families. Cancerians require a secure shelter from the outside world into which they can retreat to recover from their wounds both real and imagined. They are usually shrewd and intuitive and have a good memory, making them good students, but are apt to let their emotions color their lives and actions. They are good at caring for others and nurturing all manner of living things. They tend to be romantic, sentimental and tender although often appearing clingy. They are also very protective and have strong parenting instincts. They are prone to psychic influences and both pick up and emanate strong psychic energies. On the negative side they are moody, touchy, and inclined to self-pity. They are easily flattered and can find themselves easily taken in by a barely plausible tale.
Cancerians' emotions will be very much to the fore at this time; they should be careful in any financial or business dealings. They should also be aware of the danger of emotionally suffocating their loved ones. It is, however, a good time for attending to practical domestic details, for decorating or otherwise attending to practical to the home front. Others should be aware that this is a good time to focus on home and domestic matters. Use the energies of the period to consolidate relationships.

June 22nd, 2010
Gibbous Moon in Scorpio - Keywords for the Gibbous moon are: analyze, prepare, trust. It is the time in a lunar cycle to process the results of the actions taken during the First Quarter. During this phase you are gathering information. Give up making judgments, it will only lead to worry. Your knowledge is incomplete. Laugh. Analyze and filter. LOOK WITHIN. The Moon's transit through Scorpio is a time of death and rebirth (not necessarily physical death), intensity, extremes, and heightened sensitivity. It is a good time for focusing, being sexual, and doing psychic work because of the deep emotions and desires Scorpio brings. Often Moon in Scorpio gives us the desire to keep our strongest feelings to ourselves. This secretive aspect of Scorpio is a way of holding power, but it also assists in the internal process of change. Although Scorpio is a fixed sign, it is really about metamorphosis - the most profound kind of change. Nothing can stop a Scorpio transformation once started. Emotional resentments from the past can surface and block your heightened creative energy, so fight urges to be suspicious, secretive and moody. This is a time of regeneration and cleaning out emotional debris from the previous month. There is great energy (Tui's Action Day's energy) to complete things and focus on certain areas that you have found yourself too scattered to deal with in the previous cycle. Healing rituals for ailments of the reproductive organs are done during this period of time.
Today - Tui's Day - there are Major Fire Energy occurring. There are Major magickal energies for spells/Rites regarding Passion and Sexuality. There are minor magickal energies for warrior energy and courage.
Fire Meditation -
Fire in the form of a candle flame, is often used as a meditation tool. Staring at a flame is a way of learning to enter meditative state and, with practice, it becomes possible to work without the flame being physically present. It is used as a tool for practising magickal skills, where the student works on changing the flame by willpower alone. It is also important to gain understanding of the Element in all its forms; the light and heat of the Sun, the power of the volcano, and the warmth of a Summer's day.
On a really hot day find somewhere to lie in the Sun. It is not necessary to risk sunburn, so wear a hat and/or sunscreen. Take a few deep breaths and close your eyes. Feel the heat of the Sun penetrating your skin as a scattering of golden particles, glowing and glittering and gathering inside you. Feel them filling your blood and circulating around your body. Continue to absorb these particles until you feel them combining to become a golden light. Visualize it going deeper into your body until it is soaking right through your bones into your very essence.Visualize it driving out your cares and worries and replacing them with peace and energy. Visualize it driving out aches, pains, and illness and replacing them with health and well-being. Visualize it soothing away the stresses of life and feel yourself being filled with the light and energy of the Sun. When you feel completely refreshed open your eyes, rub your arms and legs and keep this memory for times of need.

Litha - The Sun is at the height of its power and is now beginning to decline. In common with the other Solstices and the Equinoxes the date of this festival will vary from year to year, taking place between the 20th and 23rd of the month. Also in common with the other Sabbats it would have been traditional for celebrations to have taken place over several days.
If you possibly can, on the day of the Solstice go to the seashore and at the low tide draw a solar image in the sand. Make it as large and ornate as you can, for this is in honor of the Sun. In the center place 3 stones or pieces of wood for 3 things you would like to change in your life. Position yourself where you can watch the incoming tide slowly erasing your image. As this happens, visualize the waters taking away the old and bringing in the new.
If you are unable to get to the shore then gather flower petals in reds and oranges and perform the same rite at the top of the highest hill you can reach. Try to time your arrival so that the Sun is at its zenith just after you create your image in petals. Let the wind take them in the same as the tide above. If it is a very still day you may need to leave the pattern after your visualization, but rest assured that the magic will still work.
Whichever of these you choose to perform, follow it by taking a walk. As you go, take care to notice the seasonal changes around you. The Solstice marks the mid-point, zenith, of the summer quarter of Year. This is season when the crops are ripening and the trees and bushes are starting to produce fruit. It is also the time when we should look at our own lives and give thanks to the Goddess and the Gods for those things which have borne, or are bearing fruit.
Now here is a Summer Solstice 'henge' in the City.
Manhattanhenge (sometimes referred to as Manhattan Solstice) is a biannual occurrence in which the setting sun aligns with the east-west streets of Manhattan's main street grid. The term is derived from Stonehenge, at which the sun aligns with the stones on the solstices. It was coined in 2002 by Neil deGrasse Tyson, an astrophysicist at the American Museum of Natural History. It applies to those streets that follow the Commissioners' Plan of 1811, which laid out a grid offset 28.9 degrees from true east-west.

It is Sun Day with moon in Libra - this is good - because this is a Day of Intent, Creation and Renewal. There are minor magickal energies flowing for spells/rites for motivation and personal finances. Get creative with your financial sources.
Also here in the US it is Father's Day - and just like we all have a Mother, there is Father in the creation of ourselves too. Of course the we are bombarded with ads telling us to buy this and that for the 'fathers' in our lives. While for Mother's Day often the giving of flowers is the traditional honor given to Mothers, I notice from the ad media that Father's seem to get bigger type gifts - like huge TVs and big fancy BBQ grills, etc. Can't fathers be satisfied with flowers too?

Incense
Sticks with Bamboo Rods
This is the form that most Americans think of when you mention incense. These days, even grocery stores and pharmacies carry nationally known incense brands. Many people like this form of incense but the author of "Incense: Crafting & Use of Magickal Scents" most definitely does not. Carl Neal, the author of the book, considers it one of the worst forms. As I look at most of the incense sticks I have I can see they are that form. OK, I have gotten used to using them because they are easy to stick into something and burn, they are readily available most everywhere and they come in a huge variety of scents. But I am opening my mind up to what Carl Neal is pointing out here about these common incense sticks. Sigh, why is the easy way so often found to be not the best way. So here is what he says.
Have you even wondered why the incense that has that stick up the middle? Does it help the incense burn? No, in fact it frequently stops the stick from burning. In fact, there are two types of incense that use bamboo sticks. The first are rolled incense. This is rare, but not unheard of. Some natural incense is quite weak and won't stand on its own even when dry. It is wound around the stick for support. Some people also roll incense and then insert a bamboo stick into the stick (at least one major producer does this).
Much more commonly, the stick in question began life as a 'blank' incense stick and oil was then added to it. The vast majority of commercial incense is made in this fashion. This type of incense is easy to make. Unscented 'blanks', which are what you get if you buy 'punks' at a fireworks stand, are soaked in synthetic fragrance oils (and remember synthetic oils usually have extenders of DPG - dipropylene glycol methyl ether). Most of the sticks (even cones) on the market are made this way. Certainly not all, but the great majority (including most popular brands). Carl Neal encourages us to do ourselves a favor and avoid burning this type of incense. Even if you don't decide to make your own incense from natural ingredients, at least reading about what is in your commercially brought will give you an understanding about what you buying.
Regardless of which reason incense has a stick, the stick itself offers a drawback. Sticks of bamboo like that don't want to burn. Light the end of a bamboo skewer and blow out the flame. It glows for a moment and goes out. Therefore your incense has to burn well enough to not only burn itself but that bamboo rod as well. If you're making natural incense that needs the support, use the sticks. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and forget the bamboo rod.
If the sticks are so bad, why are they created in the first place? The primary reason is physical strength. That bamboo rod makes the incense much more durable during shipping. The finer forms of incense are more prone to breakage than incense with bamboo rods. Keep in mind that most incense sold in North America is made in India. Even the bulk of incense made in North American is produced using Indian or Chinese incense blanks.

Joss sticks, Spaghetti Sticks and Cylinders
These terms are fairly new to me. Actually it was a conversation about someones teacher not liking joss sticks as use for incense and urged her students to find other type of incense to use that got me started on this subject.
Cylinders are essentially round rods of incense material. They can range in thickness from the size of a pencil down to the thickness of a toothpick. Cylinders generally offer the best burning properties and maximize your chances of successful incense making. The thinner the cylinder, the better its burning properties. This form of incense is also called a 'joss stick'. Carl Neal calls cylinders the thickness of spaghetti or thinner 'spaghetti sticks.' You will see this term frequently throughout his book "Incense: Crafting & Use of Magickal Scents". Spaghetti sticks are the very best form of incense for most purposes. They will burn better than any other shape. In fact, you might find that some of your recipes won't burn in any other form. They are easy to
light and can be made in any length. The only
real drawback to the spaghetti stick is that they are more fragile than another forms. Spaghetti sticks can be rolled to size by hand or extruded. (which means push the incense 'dough' through a clay gun. They can be found usually in a hobby shop in the clay areas. ) You can also make square 'cylindrs'. You might even see occasionally commercial sticks that square. These are easy to make by rolling the incense dough flat and cutting the sticks rather than rolling them individually.

Incense
Recently I got the book "Incense: Crafting & Use of Magickal Scents" by Carl F. Neal. It has laying around for a while but this morning I picked it up to look through it find out some information for incense that comes in stick form. I became quite fascinated about learning all the different formats that incense can be made and burned in. Lately I've been into using loose materials (Herbal) for burning on charcoal blocks for my incense needs. But for a very long time I had been using the stick incense type. It just seemed easier and more available. But after reading about how some stick incense is made now a days I don't think I will be using them that much any more. Thought I would pass this information on for others to read and let them judge for themselves.
The type of stick incense I am referring to is often called 'dipped incense' and it is made on 'blanks'. A blank is an unscented stick or cone of incense. While there is a long history of dipped incense, in more recent times the quality of dipped incense has begun to be questioned. Originally blanks were made of sandalwood powder and a type of glue. They are basically an incense 'base' and 'binder' that are rolled and dried. Instead of using plant materials to scent the incense, the sticks are soaked in oils. As the incense burns, the burning oils supply the scent. This doesn't seem to be an issue regarding safety or health. The problems come in from the practice in use by commercial incense makers. Essential oils are not used in making dipped incense. (OK, there may be a very few incense makers out there that do use good quality essential oils but are mostly unknown) Synthetic fragrance oils are used instead. A great deal of dipped incense is more than likely being made with impure oils. In order to stretch their supplies of oils for scent, commercial incense makers and oil suppliers will add a so-called 'extender' to their oil. The most commonly used one is DPG, which is an abbreviation for 'dipropylene glycol methyl ether.' It is a chemical that add little scent so the oil can double or triple the amount of oil you have on hand. DPG is relatively harmless in its liquid state but may produce poisonous gas when burned! You don't want to be sitting in clouds of swirling poisonous gases in your incense smoke.
Also incense blanks are not what they used to be. While blanks were once made from sandalwood or other appropriate woods, modern blanks are made using any wood powder at hand. Most blanks are made in countries with few or no regulations over them and might contain anything including saltpeter or unhealthy adhesives. Most of time there is no way that the incense maker and/or user will know what material might be in the blank. In fact you've brought blank incense sticks if you've ever used 'punk' to light fireworks - they are the exact same thing. Some experts have suggested that many incense blanks release dangerous chemicals themselves when burned (primarily formaldehyde), but there doesn't seem to be any formal research to confirm this. I'm we have all heard of people who complain that burning incense sticks makes them feel ill or gives them headaches. The chemicals released by burning low-quality incense might be the culprit. [The kit shown in this picture includes blanks, scented oils, and the harmful chemical DPG. Beware!]
Of course I don't want to give the impression that all dipped incense is a health hazard or is of lower quality. There are many dedicated incense dippers who would never intentionally cause harm. If dipped incense is made with a high-quality blank and only pure fragrance oils, it should present no danger whatsoever. It's simply impossible to know what quality dipped incense offers - even if you made it yourself.
Worse yet, the vast majority of dipped incense isn't made by dedicated individuals, but by foreign companies in the same nations that export blank incense to North America and Europe. They often manufacture their incense without regard to anything other than their profit margin. Although not universally true, you should definitely keep the hazards of dipped incense in mind any time you go shopping. Even 'rolled' incense that buy can contain dangerous chemicals since many incense makers still follow the poor practice of using saltpeter (potassium nitrate) and 'cut' the oils in their incense.
I am going to have other entries on incense this lunar cycle. Since this has become of interest to me, I feel that maybe it might be of interest to some my readers.

Moon Day - the Day of Remembering and Feeling. There are minor magickal energies for doing spells and rites for domestic issues, and for the feminine.
Tree Knowledge
Trees are magical entities, each species having different properties and being used in different ways.
Every person has one or more trees that are special to them, even though they may not have found them yet. In the Craft a personal tree becomes a Sacred Space in its own right, as well as a place where we can draw on the energies of the Elements in a very direct way. These personal trees may change over time just as we change as go through life.
First, you need to select a tree. Take your time and look at many different kinds and specimens. When you feel you have found the type of tree you feel at home with, it will pay to spend a little time with several examples of its kind. Sit beneath each with your eyes closed; look on the ground for any signs which may indicate that it has chosen you. One such would to catch a falling leaf, or to find a twig with leaves and perhaps the 'fruit' of the tree. When you have chosen your tree, or it has chosen you, create a plait of several of your hairs and bury it beneath the tree, taking away a small piece of wood, fruit, or leaves. These provide a link between you and the tree. Also place an offering of honey and raisins beneath its boughs.
Get to know your tree, making regular visits and spending time in meditation and contemplation under it. Take photographs or make sketches and drawings of it. Learn to see it in all its moods and seasons.

Moon in Cancer - this transit brings desires about a home, emotional security, security issues, nostalgia and wanting to nurture. Cooking and entertaining your friends are a way to pass this transit. Prepare a feast in your home, ask your friends over and do psychic work together. Women are emotionally and psychically sensitive at this time. Moon in Cancer brings heightened sensitivity and because of this when the moon is in this sign it is frequently referred to as a 'crybaby' moon. Cancer is the home of the moon, sensitive planet of emotions, so feelings are easily hurt, especially by personal criticism. Nostalgia reigns supreme.
Today is Sun Day - day of Intent, Creation and Renewal. There are minor magickal energies for a rite or spell for self-improvement. Is this one of the 'seeds' you are planting this lunar cycle?
Oak Month
The Oak is the King of Trees and sacred to the Celts and Druids.
It has long been considered bad luck to cut it down or to take the living wood. Since early times it has been associated with Herne who was thought to have practiced magic under one, and with the stag, symbol of the Horned God. It is also sacred to Thor and acorns are said to protect a house from storms and lightning. It was sacred to the ancient Greeks and the Romans dedicated it to Jupiter, and King Arthur's round table was said to have been made from a single slice of Oak. The Oak is strongly associated with the element of Earth and the physical realm. The Oak represents the sacrifice of personal freedom in order to take up magick work.
The Oak is slow-growing and capable to living well over a hundred years. Its hard wood was used to build ships, and burnt to provide charcoal for metalwork. The bark was used in leather making and to create dyes of purple, black, yellow and browns. The young wood is used to make furniture. Acorns have been long noted for their antiseptic properties and used in folk medicine to dress wounds. They have also been used to make flour and a form of coffee. The inner bark makes a gargle for throat and sinus problems. The leaves make a soothing dressing for sore eyes.
To protect your home from all manner of ills, make an equal-armed cross, bound with red thread, of two pieces of Oak. To bring prosperity, plant an acorn the day before the New Moon.

New Moon - At this New Moon we are getting a triple dose of mercurial brilliance, with Sun-Moon at 21 degrees Gemini, and Mercury at 3 Gemini (Mercury moved into Gemini's sign on the 10th, Thursday of this month). It's likely to be noisy, with a high potential for mania, anxiety, panic and other modern ills from constant TMI (too much information). Take care to avoid what/who makes you strung out, nervous, pulled in too many directions.
As you know this is the beginning of a new lunar cycle. The keywords are beginning, birth, emergence, projection and clarity. It is the time in a cycle that you are stimulated to take a new action.
And remember as mentioned above, all this Gemini stimulation going on today could make you feel anxious. During this New Moon time in the cycle your visions are seeding themselves inner and outer.
Engage in physical activity. Spend time alone. VISUALIZE your goals for the 29.6 cycle ahead.
The Sun and Moon are conjunct at the New Moon. This does signal a tremendous concentration of energy, but it occurs outside our view. This suggest energy but little awareness, a common feature of beginnings. We like to think we direct ourselves into new desired directions, but more typically, we start new cycles like the New Moon, in the dark. It's much like conception, another divine conjunction outside our view. We don't really know what we've begun until will after it's started.
What I've learned from keeping a regular New Moon practice is that without a lunar calendar, this moment is easy to miss. One busy-work after another, we're rushed forward at the machine-like pace of modern life. Unwittingly we send our New Moon steps into old footprints. Despite twelve to thirteen New Moons every year, each one a celestial chance to build anew, people commonly land in the same situation month after month. Here is a link to online Lunar Calendar and keep where you see it most everyday. http://www.zodiacarts.com/Calendar.shtml
And so with the beginning of a new lunar cycle we also enter a new Lunar Tree Month or Celtic Tree Month. We have left the Hawthorn/Hauthe month/cycle and now enter the Oak/Duir cycle. I will post more on the energies of this tree cycle tomorrow.

The moon enters the sign of Gemini this afternoon - it is preparing to be in the Sun sign for when it's New Moon phase comes on Friday on June 12th. So there are today and tomorrow left in this Hauthe/Hawthorn Lunar Cycle. Also Litha is approaching - the Sun's progress towards the Northern Hemisphere has slowed quite a bit. Now the Sun rises almost the same time every morning and sets in the evening close to the same time it was the day before. The Light time of the Wheel of the Year is about over and we will be going back into the Dark time soon. Sigh. Yet the time of the darkest days is still quite a ways off - the change will be slow but steady. There are Major magickal energies for rites/spell regarding Money and Business up until the moon goes v/c and moves into Gemini. There are minor magickal energies to enhance spells regarding eliminating obstacles to wealth, power and fame.
The waning energies of the moon brings us the options when dealing with matters of Money and Business. Instead of casting spells for the acquiring money, cast spells to eliminate what is keeping the flow of money coming your way. It is Thor's Day - the Day of Vision, Spiritual Insight, and Expansion.
Expand your inward introspection deeper within yourself. Do some serious meditating.

Balsamic Moon - The Moon is a slim Crescent, forty-five degrees behind the Sun. Moonrise comes in the pre-dawn hours, when most of us are sound asleep, in the theater of our most vivid dreams. Right brain processes are at their peak this phase, having gathered momentum since the Full Moon. Instinct and intuition are high. Rest is imperative. Even during waking house, we work in Balsamic much as we do in dreamtime, when the semiconscious sorts and catalogues our experiences, feelings, receiving messages of guidance. Our physical energy is necessarily as low as our psychic energy is high. We're at a threshold, ending one cycle while anticipating a new one around the corner. We might want to get in motion, but our bodies are tired. Our clarity and focus wane, like the Balsamic Moon herself, rising thinner and fainter each morning until she eventually disappears altogether, lost in the Sun's glare. Then this is the Dark Moon. Much of the time we won't know whether we're finishing up or leaning toward the future, whether we're being truly psychic or dreaming - which is why this a better period for introspective than for action. Without the dormancy of winter, spring's (or the New Moon's) seeds cannot mature.
Doing Balsamic goes against the cultural grain. We're afraid of loss. Anything but endless upward growth appears unfortunate. The downward arc of cycles is difficult. Yet fearing Balsamic means shunning the medicine that can make us well. This Moon phase brings a profound initiation into cyclic intelligence, like menstrual huts or Moon lodges of long ago, when women would bleed on the dark of the Moon and withdraw from the tribe's daily business. In the womb of the lodge they surrendered to visions, renewing their powers, returning to their tribe inspired, with a renewed capacity to inspire others. Of course in our day, menstruation is often called 'the curse'. And so it seems for the Balsamic phase. The Dark Moon makes possible our future creating.

(excerpts from Dana Gerhardt's "Moon Watching")
Moon in Taurus - The forceful forward movement of Aries becomes solid, calm, and patient during a Taurus transit. This is a good time to continue projects and finish them up. The calm effects of a Taurus moon transit compliments the Balsamic inward energies. There are Major magickal energies for doing Bindings after the Moon moves into the sign of Taurus - and minor energies for reversals and banishings.
"For your misdeeds
you will be bound
This wish be buried in the ground
And think not that I toy with thee
cause I am serious as a Banshee."
[From: "Seasons of the Witch 2010
Datebook"]
Binding - Binding is a technique that the ethical witch uses with caution. Naturally it has been greatly employed in amoral love spells since time immemorial to draw and attach one person to another, usually the spell-caster. This is classic bewitchment, in which the free will of the 'victim' is overruled by the desire of the practitioner. Many a tale could be told of unfortunate consequences of such an action, but, to be fair on the witch or magician concerned, words and actions in love trysts can be equally binding and thwarting to the recipient, and they say that all is fair in love and war. The Wiccan, of course, would disagree, but a non-Wiccan, magickally-minded person might argue that betrothal and wedlock are equally binding and often just a duplication. Be that as it may, a more common usage of the technique in magick is not so much to attract as to prevent interaction. The idea in this case would be to bind a person from causing harm - to oneself or others.
As with all spells, there are many ways to bring one's will to pass - the symbolism of the ritual must simply correlate with the witch's intent. An obvious form of binding involves the use of cords, but a bind-rune or other monogram symbolizing the desire effect can also bring it about. Whittling away at a stick or object while strongly visualizing the person's harmful capacities diminishing can also bring bindings to pass. However, there are many people in the world with strong will power, and in order to magnify one's own to anything like the require capacity, other techniques should be used, with the bound symbol as the focal point. These include casting a Circle to concentrate energy and create a cross-dimensional environment; lighting candles and burning incense of appropriate correspondences (a small black taper candle, for example, burnt right down, could serve to symbolize the destruction of negative potential action); undergoing a small fast before the rite (to focus one's mind and increase emotional impetus); and a huge variety of other magickal techniques that you can create on your own. When working in tune with natural correspondences - the tides of the moon, astrological considerations, days of the week, angelic hours, and whatever else the witch deems appropriate - imagination may be harnessed to powerful effect.
When binding a gossip from malicious speech, for example, every bolt of energy thrown at the person might be envisaged as landing on his or her mouth like sticky tape. The ethical witch will ensure the gossip's mouth is freed up for essential and nonharmful speech, and of course for purposes of eating, drinking, and breathing. When binding a person who is physically threatening or abusive (thought legal action is highly recommended in lieu - fists should be countered on their own plane), that person's ability to harm can be imagined as flailing arms cut off or tied behind his/her back at each onslaught of psychic energy.
The use of dolls is obviously appropriate to binding spells. A classic scenario is the binding of one personalized doll to another in love magick, though, as previously mentioned, this is obviously unethical unless both people consent, which would be highly unlikely as most of us would choose to develop freely. An individual might be prevented from causing harm by being 'bound' in effigy form in a black satin cloth, with proviso that it keeps harmful energies in (and provocative energies out), but allows free flow to those that are not pernicious.
The effective witch is imaginative, and knows what works best for her, and what seems the most appropriate symbolism in any given situation.

Moon in Aries - An Aries transit is a time of new beginnings, intense activity, reaching out in emotional surges and impulsiveness... This moon transit can be a great tester of limits. When the moon is in Aries you might feel impatient now or want to initiate new things. But wait a minute, aren't we in waning moon energies now? Doesn't this mean a time of drawing inward? Yes, it can but yet sometimes we become aware of issues occurring that we feel great impatient with. Not only has the moon moved into this fiery energy sign but it is also happening on a Sun Day - a Day of Intent, Creation and Renewal. There are Major magickal energies for (R) Beginnings, Changes. the (R) means repelling or reverse energies; and there are minor magickal energies for banishing sickness/ disease/ and addiction. All of these seem to be a cross purposes for a waning moon period. What do I suggest? Don't have an answer or suggestion that could reconcile these varying energy flows. But I do say go with what you are feeling at the moment.
So what is causing me to really feel like expressing Aries energy? A couple of things - one is the issue with the damage in the Gulf areas where the oil is causing death and destruction to the wildlife in these fragile areas. May I direct you to the pictures posted on http://kerrdelune.blogspot.com/2010/06/not-in-my-name.html
I have collected several more pictures of these endangered beautiful birds being slowly 'sludged' to death in this every growing oil slick. I feel like it would be appropriate to lunch a campaign, using these pictures, against BP and its sick profit making operations by pasting one of these pictures on every BP gas pumps in the country where people who are pumping BP gas into their gas tanks and cans can see it. Perhaps a little note posted beneath the picture could read 'thanks for your money/contribution to our continuing oil drilling operations' or something to that effect. I know, the gas stations will take them down but if only for a brief moment and one customer at a time, these images could be seen, and if it was continued to replace the pictures every time they are removed there might be a backlash started.
And another environmental issue that has been going on for a very long time and continues to reach momental proportions - plastic garbage... In http://hecatedemetersdatter.blogspot.com/
What Cat Chapin-Bishop Said. entry you re-directed to http://quakerpagan.blogspot.com/2010/05/small-stuff.html
Small Stuff blog entry which is about the destruction of plastic garbage floating in our oceans, here particularly in the Pacific Ocean. This is a matter we much face regarding our part in contributing to it and figure out we can as individuals do to help cutting down on it. So I feel that Aries fiery energy has affected me to bring these matters up today and to make a commitment in the days ahead to act on making changes in my lifestyle and hopefully in others.
